Experience the thrill of whitewater rafting on one of Alaska’s stunning routes. Valdez’s only land route to the Alaskan interior, the Lowe River through Keystone Canyon offers an exciting whitewater rafting trip. This adventure features Class III rapids and the beautiful scenery of Thompson Pass. We’ll start in Valdez, driving through the canyon for great river views before embarking on an unforgettable rafting journey through impressive terrain.
We begin our paddle with Class I-II whitewater, providing an opportunity for you to get used to the raft and practice commands before entering the canyon. As the canyon narrows, the waves and rapids increase into big-water Class III. With high water flow volume, you’ll hear boulders turning on the riverbed. On a short section of calm water, we will stop at Bridal Veil Falls, one of the many massive waterfalls adorning Keystone Canyon’s sheer rock walls. After the quick stop, it’s back in the raft to navigate the rest of this magnificent canyon. We’ll take out as the canyon opens and the river calms.
*Trips depart at 10am, 2:00pm and 6pm daily.
